bathroom scaleShould you weigh yourself daily when you are moving toward wellness - or hold off on the scales? That's a question a lot of people seem to wrestle with.

For some, the daily visit to the scale has a negative impact. It sets the tone for their whole day and often that tone is off-key. But if the scale shows a good result, they want to celebrate - often with food! If this is you - probably shouldn't weigh daily.

On the other hand, there are some of us who prefer weighing daily. I can see immediate results (good or bad) of what I did the day before. Or at least over the past 2-3 days. I've found that if I don't weigh daily, I tend to think I'm no longer "on the program." So for me, the daily weigh-in is critical.

Do I let it affect my mood? I try not to. If the scale seems stuck for a week or more, then I get discouraged. But if it fluctuates a pound up or down, I consider that normal and don't panic. It took some getting used to, but I'm glad I've adopted the daily scale habit.
